The Search for Soft Hands

I have found my holy grail of hand lotions. Not greasy, tolerable scent (really, this stuff should be unscented please) and IT WORKS!
I got a little sample of this at Sephora a few months ago and came across it last week. The Jack Black brand is geared for men and has other very good products in the line. I tried the Hand Healer over the course of a few days. I love Sephora, the samples are always generous and you can actually ask them for a sample of just about anything to take home and try before you buy. They'll make one up for you if they don't have it.
Hand Healer leaves my hands soft, smooth, hydrated and also does double duty on my cuticles. I use it once a day in the morning and it lasts all day long, even through hand washings.
I'm sold and bought my own tube. Also available via Amazon in a larger size - which I will get when the tube runs out!

The Bigger The Hair, The Closer To God
I have no words for this. Well, I do but my mother reads this blog. And I thought Bumpits were redonkulous!

Lusting For Shoes
I love shoes. Crazy love for shoes. And handbags, but that's for another time. When I was a great big fat girl it was often I could only buy shoes and purses in nice shops - and eventually not even shoes! But now I can lust for shoes just for the sake of loving them. Like these rather absurd looking Keds. By the way, I wear a 10 ;)
Or from my favorite shoe store, Remix, a pair of yellow Briarcliff's!

Yep, 49. In 3 weeks. I clean up okay though.

Make May Your Make Do and Mend Month!
Now that's a mouthful! As readers may know, I've embarked on a big revamp of my life over the past few years, starting with a big move to the Central Coast of California in August of 2005, buying a home in August of 2006, and then my big surgery in April of 2007, and now this January we started a real budget and credit card/debt payoff plan that is going along well. Part of this plan is making do with what we have - though I do budget for clothing, as it's one of my remaining vices! - and repairing what might be broken. We live in a far too disposable age and need to get back to basics wherever possible. Here's a few of my favorite Make Do and Mend ideas for you this month:
Queens of Vintage
Great Depression Cooking with Clara
Sweater Reconstruction from One Pearl Button
Refashioned Sweater into a Cardigan from Erica Makes Stuff
Over the last couple of weekends, I've spent some time sewing buttons on out-of-commission garments, hemming pants and sewing new garments. Take the time to fix what you have or re-purpose it into something new!
