Yeeehawww, Let's Dance!

Finally got something done - a new skirt from vintage 50's border fabric in a hoedown dancer theme. I didn't use a pattern, I just stitched up the side seam in the exactly length of yardage I had. Cut off a waistband from the top and a another few inches to make the finished skirt about 26" long (I am 5'4") and then pleated the skirt top into the waistband, put in a side lapped zipper and a blue button for the waist closure. Hemmed and taaadaaa, I am ready for the 4th of July, cowboy!

Yeeeeeehaw!

Here I am today in my vintage (50's?) western-style gingham dress and Keds. Sadly the original belt to the dress was in bad shape, so this one has to do for now but I'm still on the lookout for a replacement.

Dig those crazy shades, daddy-o!

June: Make Do and Mend!

Okay, much going on here at Casa de Inky, lots of sadness and empty little kitteh spots, but I am trying to move along each day slowly but surely.

I nearly forgot about my Make Do and Mend promise - so here goes, a clever craft for you to try - I would but I don't have any newspapers! I should try to get some and give this a go - it would make a great basket for all those magazines/articles/etc that I have to get around to reading!

Thank You All

Thank you friends for your kind comments and e-mails about the loss of little Bella. She was only with us for a six months, but we miss her very much. She was a smart, affectionate and playful little kitten and quickly found a fit into our family. Today while I try to work, I miss that she loved sitting in my lap while I typed, sitting on Mr. Inky's chair behind me or in the windowsill where I could see her. She was always generous with her purrs and so sweet. I have a little 8 pound hole in my heart where Bella used to be.

Boo had a test for leukemia on Friday afternoon and fortunately he tested negative. He'll have another test in a few months and then we'll see about another kitten. I am not sure if he misses her yet or not. When our other older cat died a few years ago he was very despondent for a while, but he had been with Noel for a long time, so I am not sure how Bella's passing will affect him. Hopefully not too much.

Thank you again, your support has been very important to me.
