hello everyone. in this video i’ll show you how to knit socks. the written instruction how to knit the socks is available at: interunet.com/how-to-knit-socks-on-two-needles. i will knit the sock as one flat piece. i’ll start from the top part and then i will knit bottom one. and then i join sides together. for the ribbing, i will cast on twenty four stitches on two knitting needles.
for the first row slide one stitch on a right needle without knitting it, and then purl two, and knit two. i knit through the back loop. and then just alternate – knit two to end of the row.
at the end of the first row, after last purl two, knit one stitch, and turn. second row. again, slip one stitch, knit two stitches. and then purl two stitches. that way – knit two stitches, purl two stitches – continue to end of the row. at the end of the second row, after last
knit two stitches, purl last stitch and turn. then, just alternate first and second rows. again, one slip stitch, knit two and so on. i worked fifteen rows. sixteenth row. wrong side. again, slip stitch,
knit two, purl nine. then, i will pick up one stitch. to do so, i will insert my needle, right needle, between two stitches, and then grab the yarn and pull it through. that’s how i pick up the stitch. again, between two stitches
of the previous row insert the needle, grab the yarn and draw it through. and then again, like a mirror reflection, purl nine, knit two, and purl one. i have twenty five stitches in total now. seventeenth row. slip one stitch, then, knit four,
knit two stitches to the right. insert your needle into the second, following stitch, first; and then, through the first one, grab the yarn and draw it through. then, knit three, and pick one stitch up. so, in between stitches insert the needle under the yarn,
and then grab this yarn and pull it through. one more time. then, purl one stitch, and again, pick up one stitch. and then work like a mirror reflection – knit three, knit two stitches together to the left, knit four, and purl two,
and knit one. eighteenth and all even rows work – slip stitch, purl nine, then, knit one, and again – purl nine, knit two, purl one. now turn. nineteenth row. slip stitch, purl two, as usual. and again, knit two stitches together to the right.
then, knit three. pick up stitch between two stitches. knit one, purl one, knit one, and again, pick up one stitch between two stitches. and again – knit three, knit two stiches together to the left, and then purl two and knit one.
twentieth row work as eighteenth row. twenty first row. one slip stitch, purl two. then knit two. and knit two stitches together to the right. knit three. between two stitches pick up one stitch. knit two, knit two.
and again, between two stitches pick up one stitch, knit two stitches together to the left, and then, knit two, purl two, knit one, twenty third row. slip stitch, purl two. then, knit one, knit two stitches together,
pick up one stitch. knit three. and again, pick up one stitch, knit two stitches together. and then, knit one, purl two, knit one. twenty fifth row. purl two. then, knit two stitches together, and now knit two stitches together
to the left. and then, knit four, now you should have twenty four stitches again. now work the pattern, starting from the sixteenth row. so, again, slip one stitch, then purl nine. then, in between stitches, pick up one stitch –
that way you will have a hole – just like here. and then again – purl nine, knit two, purl one and so on. i repeated the pattern five times – one, two, three, four, five; and one repeat is ten rows. so, fifty plus fifteen – i have now sixty five rows. and now i will knit decreasing stitches.
sixty sixth row wrong side. slip one stitch, knit two, purl eighteen, knit two, purl one. now i will just knit stitches decreasing two stitches from both sides every other row. so, slip one stitch, knit two stitches together to the left. then, knit to last three stitches. at the end of the sixty seventh row, when i have just three stitches left – knit two stitches together to the right
slip one stitch and purl all stitches to end. and then alternate sixty seventh and sixty eighth rows until you have twelve stitches left. so, again, slip one stitch, knit two stitches together. then, knit all stitches to last three stitches, knit two stitches together, knit one. and then again, purl all stitches to end. when you have just twelve stitches left, begin to decrease on a wrong side also. slip one stitch, purl two stitches together. then purl to last three stitches.
and again – purl two stitches together, purl one. when you have just four stitches left, you may attach the thread, to make the socks more durable, and begin to work back part increasing stitches. slip one stitch, then pick up one stitch. so, use base stitch of a previous row,
and pull the yarn through. then work two purl stitches. and then again, reuse base stitch. pick up the yarn, and purl last stitch. so, you should have two stitches more.
do the same thing on a right side. reuse base stitch, then, knit four. and again, reuse base stitch, and pick up one stitch, and knit last stitch. again, you should have two stitches more. that way continue adding two stitches every row until you have twelve stitches in total.
when i have twelve stitches on my needle, i will start to increase two stitches every other row. so, now i will just purl all stitches to end without increasing stitches, and then, i will again increase two stitches. and i will continue increasing two stitches every other row until i have twenty four stitches on my needle. when you have twenty four stitches on your needle,
do not increase any more – just knit all stitches on right sides and purl all stitches on wrong sides. for the back part, i knit sixty two rows to beginning of my heel. and now i will begin to decrease. i will do it just like here. i will decrease two stitches every other row until i have eight stitches left. after you have eight stitches left,
begin to increase two stitches every other row until you have again twenty four stitches slip one stitch, reuse base stitch and pick up one stitch. then just knit to end. here again, reuse base stitch, pick up one stitch, and knit last stitch. you should have two stitches more. then, just purl stitches. and on a right side again increase two stitches and so on.
after you have twenty four stitches on your needle, work six more rows without decreasing or increasing stitches. and then, knit the ribbing. after you finished the ribbing, just regular way – purl two, knit two; cast off all the stitches. for that, knit two stitches together. then place this stitch back to the left needle,
and then repeat the process. again knit two stitches together, and then again slide this stitch back. that way, i will continue to end of the row. before joining sides, i counted my those side loops – big loops. so, from the very end of my top part – were i have pattern i counted thirty loops and placed marker. the same thing i did on this side.
so, again, i counted those big loops. and also thirty loops and placed marker. i will start joining from the heel – wrong side. you may sew sides or use a crochet hook. before that, i will also place one more marker. i will mark my end of the heel. so, count eight loops – one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. and then begin to join.
insert the hook into one loop, and then into another, then again, second loop on one side, and second loop on another side, pull the yarn through the three loops. and that way, continue to end of the heel. last time. now, i have marker here. so, i will remove it.
and insert my hook in this chain. and then just pull the yarn through. and again – wrong side, wrong side. and now i will work to end – to my decrease here. so, again. insert the hook into the next chain. after i joined one side, i will work slip stitches here,
and then i will join second side. then again, remove your marker, and work last joining. so, now i will count again eight loops – one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight; and then another eight –
i will insert my hook into this loop, and this in the eighth one and just continue joining regular way. after you finish joining sides, work the second sock as you first one. now the socks are ready and thank you for watching.
